Apple Safari 4 Beta for Windows and Mac ready for Download
On 24 Feb’09 Apple launched the much awaited version of it’s Safari 4 Browser in Beta Version. With this, Apple claims to be the fastest web browser ever.
Here are some of the Key new features
- Windows Native Look and Feel- When run on Windows Safari makes itself look just like any other Windows application.
- Top Sites – Safari remembers the last 24 websites that you visited and presents them as a Thumbnail in a single page. You can customize it.
- Cover Flow – Provides a visual way of reviewing your site history and bookmarked sites. This view is similar to what is available in iTunes.
- Tabs on Top – Just like in Firefox or Google chrome, provides with Tabs which have Drag and Drop feature.
- Nitro Engine – This is one of the feature that distinguishes it from the rest of the browsers. Using the Nitro Engine, Safari claims to execute JavaScript up to 30 times faster than Internet Explorer 7, 3 times faster than Firefox 3. It also claims to load web pages 3 times faster than IE 7 and almost 3 times faster than Firefox 3.
- Provides many other features for Developers. We will have to wait and watch if it can attract more developers to write plugins like in Firefox 3.
- Acid 3 compliance – Which means this browser has passed the CSS, XML, JavaScript, and SVG Standards.
- No new feature on Security and Privacy is added in this version.
With all the above features in place one still need to wait and watch to see if it can take over Firefox. Is Safari poised to become the favorite Browser for the blogging community? Will it survive in the competition of the Browser Wars?

Initially I thought that I am in Nihars World! So you switched to the same theme?
Thanks for the update on Safari… though, only a very few percentage of my visitors use Safari, I would like to test how my blog renders in it.

@Ajith, Welcome to Read2Know. I never switched the theme. This is my first theme since the start of the Blog ![]()
Same is the case with me. Most of my readers use Firefox. I got inclined towards it for the speed… will see how it is.
But I never noticed it…and this is not my first visit to your blog.

@Nihar, I never used Firefox until I started blogging and since then I seldom open IE. So, we are on the same page and am sure most of the bloggers are.
Will definitely give Safari a try, at least to check for the Speed it claims!
to my knowledge, safari is one of the best browsers period. its great at following all of the rules and makes a web developers life a lot easier. too bad it has such a small market share
Very fast and slick too. It’s my fav browser out there.

I’m going to give this a go since I’ve never had a Mac and wonder what all the fuss is about, I’m a massive Firefox user and recommend it to all my friends but I’ll keep an open mind when I’m trying it out.
I haven’t tried safari. But this time I am thinking of it.
This will be a consideration on page design.
thanks for sharing.
I have tried Safari once and don’t remember whether it was before February and also don’t remember the version number. For me, it was all excitement to see that Mac has released a windows version of their browser, I liked it but was surprised by some features when I saw a couple of features of Safari at office wasn’t available in the version I had at home. Maybe I was using an old one. I love firefox addons so I am stick with it.
I adore safari, extremely glad its been ported over, but after downloading chrome, im afraid it takes the crown. Just wish chrome was on mac
I never used anything but firefox till now, but ever since i have started using latest Safari can’t imagine using anyother browser.
not only apple safari is sleek and good looking it opens websites very fast..

It looks great, but I’m very familiar with firefox and internet explorer. It is not easy to handle too many browsers. IE, FF, Chrome, Safari; all of them are good at certain point, but for a simple marketer like me two of them are enough.
This is my first time here and I really enjoyed your site, great work!
