GeeMail – All new Desktop client for Gmail
Are you obsessed with Gmail? Do you like Gmail because of it’s look and feel. Want to access Gmail even when you are offline? Do you like Gmail because of it’s User Interface? Then, GeeMail is the solution.
GeeMail is a desktop client that can be installed in your system. Once you are connected to the Internet, all your emails will be synchronized with the application.
Features
- Runs on Adobe AIR Platform.
- You don’t have to configure the SMTP/POP or IMAP settings for it to work. Just install and use it.
- The UI (User Interface) is almost similar to Gmail. It has all the features that you expect in Gmail.
- It’s Cross Platform. You can use this on Windows, MAC & Linux.
- Of course, provides you with offline access.
Drawbacks
- Google recently introduced Offline Access for Gmail through Gears. No additional clients are needed to access Gmail when offline.
- Gmails most important feature – Mail Search is not available in GeeMail.
- It only downloads smaller portion of your Gmail initially to make the application faster. In other words, it downloads the data parts by parts. For instance, emails first and labels later (when the CPU/application is idle)
I do not want to install and additional piece of software only for accessing Gmail offline. I would either use Gmail in offline access mode or I use Outlook mail client. You may download the software here.
What do you think? Do you prefer this software over official Gmail offline? Will you install it?

@Nihar, As I mentioned in the post even I prefer Gmail. It’s good to know that people are making a living out of Gmail.
I prefer to use the online version as it serves most of my needs. I wont see any particular reason to use a desktop client. ANH, Does it also provide chat option on the left sidebar ?
Prasanna´s last blog post..How to use your website or blog URL as an OpenID
@Prasanna, you are correct. It’s not of much use when it only supports gmail. No, it does not support the chat option. In order to chat, one needs to be online rite?
very interesting!
I like the idea…
I am just wondering if it really send email during offline state or it just cache it and send it once online.
please enlighten me.
thanks a lot.

I think it is nice that they created a nice, cross compatable system to do this. Too bad that Google allowed offline Gmail access, or this could have really taken off.
