Terrorist Attacks in India

Militants armed with automatic weapons and grenades attacked luxury hotels, hospitals and a famous tourist cafe in India’s commercial capital Mumbai late on Wednesday, killing at least 101 people.

Facts & Figures:

In the recent past, India has been badly hit by the bomb blasts in 2008. Here is the list taken from Yahoo.

The figures mentioned above are the official figures. Only God knows about the actual figures.
From the above stats, one can clearly conclude the facts. In Sep’08 alone there were so many blasts. Every time there is a blast, the Government is ready to Condemn those attacks! If there were proper actions taken, there wouldn’t been a need for me to write this post!

What is happening?

Mumbai Blasts

Mumbai Blasts

In India, there’s a saying ‘Atidhi Devo Bava’, meaning, the guests are next to God. Several Foreign nationals have been killed in yesterday’s blasts! Is it not the Government’s responsibility to protect them?

Every time the terror strikes, the Government condemns those attacks. The GOVERNMENT ONLY CONDEMNS those attacks and is not taking a proper action. The terror strikes again. The same recursive statements from the Government. The Indian Government has literally failed to contain the terror.

If a blast happens in one part of the country, the whole country is alerted. People are stopped at every nook and corner for the security check. This alert will only lasts for a day or two. Later, nobody even bothers. Everything’s as usual again. The Government only wakes when there is an attack and it has become a practice to forget about it later.

Let me tell you that anybody can carry a weapon and travel through the public transport in India. There’s literally no security at most of the Railway Stations and Bus Stations. The checks do happen, but, it’s only to check for the unauthorized travel. The Government is only concerned about the income generation sources and not really on the security.

The Indian Railways, for instance, collects security tax (included in the Ticket Fee) from the passengers. What the heck? We are not against it! But, what’s the use when they are not providing the security to their Citizens?

What should be done?

  1. Install security devices at each and every Railway Station , Bus Terminals. One can hardly find a security device or a security check at the public places.
  2. Thorough Security checks should be made at every Entry & Exit points in India. The terrorists entered Mumbai through Sea for the blasts on 26 Nov’08.
  3. The biggest problem India is facing is not Terrorism. It is Politics. I strongly feel that we do not have a good leader who is dynamic. Like a Jack Welsh in business, we need someone in Politics.
  4. Most of the investigations by the Security Agencies are influenced by the politicians. These Security Agencies are not able to perform their tasks. Only the politicians have to be blamed for this and this should not happen.
  5. India needs a strong security policy on the lines of countries like USA, UK & the EU. As I mentioned earlier, there was indeed a security policy introduced by the previous Government which was named POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act). Since, the Government has changed later on, this policy has been thrown away. Not sure for whose good!!!
  6. There is a retirement age of 60 for the ordinary people in the Government Jobs. Even for those who are working in Services. Why is this not applicable for these Politicians?

Facts:
One attack on WTC in US, and the people across the world have seen the actions taken by the Federal Government in the US.

Several attacks in India, what should I write here??? Today’s news is the fact. What is the action by the Indian Government? May be we need leaders like Obama & Putin!

People’s Perception

  1. We have been used to these political dramas. Have been seeing them for more than 50 years. Not even a single party is really concerned about the people. They are only interested in occupying the high profile portfolios.
  2. Every day one can see the news on Politicians involvement in multi billion dollar scams, murders, and what not? Seldom, there is an action against them.
  3. India is among the biggest Democratic Countries. Today, I feel ashamed that this is being misused by the policy makers themselves.
  4. Billions of Dollars being spent on Election Campaigns just for the heck of getting into the power. Can we divert them to the security of the Country? Hope someone listens to it!

This article is not intended for or against a particular party and rather it’s intended for each and every political outfit in India.

What next?
I will be writing a similar article in the near future too. Yes, I’m confident that this blasts would happen again. Probably then, you may understand what I’m trying to say.

This is shocking. I saw some of this on our local TV news and it left me with a feeling of sadness. When will the people of the world realize that violence does not solve any problems, it normally just creates more problems. I feel so sorry for all the innocent victims of the senseless violence.

I am going to Stumble this article as it tells a story that as many as possible should read.

Lyndi´s last blog post..Blog Review: THE iNFINITY

I have an immoral and unpalatable solution. But it would probably work. It’s almost beyond the telling, but senseless violence will continue until we step up our efforts to prevent it. One way…you have some of them? Well, find their families, their entire extended families.

No, don’t kill them, unless they are between the ages of 15 and 50 – adopt the youngest children out to buddhist, hindi, jewist, and christian families. AND to Islamic families who believe in the word of Allah. (I’m pretty sure, having lived in Egyptian North Africa, that it is NOT Islam to randomly kill cuz someone is a “westerner” – More like they are vain enough to want trophies for their kill bragging rights – stupid machismo murders. Apparently “westerners” are worth so much more than “east block” and “southern europeans” – they actually hunt them. Sorry, France, you’ve been devalued!

That will probably inspire the beasts to kill off their own line, (I hope not), but the humiliation may deter them.

Give the leader a voice to air grievances, even if it’s counter to Indian policy. Just a voice.

So, basically, what I am saying as a mommy – take their kids, knock off the older ones, unless the wife/mother can make a case for mercy as yet unexhibited by their husbands/brothers/fathers/cousins. Adopt the young children to good homes with moral values. These terrorists don’t get my sympathy, nor do I wish their children anything but the best. The best is NOT being the offspring of murderers.

Let their names be as the dust. And give me a (legally aquired and professionally used) gun to get even. Sad as hell! Strength and power to the Government of India!

Arun, I know how much common people are hurt. But we can’t do anything. We are helpless.

I don’t think indian government will learn form this. I am not confident.

Lets see for how long the security measures are taken.

@Nihar, that’s correct. I don’t think there will be any change in the Politicians or the Government. We are really helpless!!!
