Access your Gmail – Offline
Google rolled out the Gmail offline functionality on Tuesday evening. This functionality of browser-based offline access to Gmail will be available to everyone in few days.
What is Gmail Offline?
With the offline service, users will be able to load Gmail in their Web browsers even if they don’t have an Internet connection, and they will be able to read, star, label, archive, and organize e-mails. Offline Gmail will also allow users to compose new e-mails and move them to the Outbox, where they will wait until the user is online again to be sent.
Gears Platform
Google implemented office access to Gmail through Gears, a browser plug-in designed to provide offline access to Web-hosted applications like Gmail. This functionality uses the Gmail interface when disconnected from the Internet and provides you the same view as online.
Gears is currently used for offline access to several Web applications from Google, like the Reader RSS manager and the Docs word processor, and from other providers like Zoho, which uses it for offline access to its e-mail and word processing browser-based applications.

Use Watermarking technique to promote your Blog or Site
We often upload our images to Photo sharing sites and also distribute them across different sites on the web. Most of the sites like Flickr, Picasa, Snap Fish show your images on an image search in Google or Live. Of course, you can make them private so that they are not shown t public.
We also upload images to our blogs/sites. These images may be unique and you do not want someone else to be the owner of your images. Anyone can easily use them for various purposes without your knowledge. So, how do you protect them? Thanks to Watermarking technique.
Your images are visible across the web and when they are visible, they can be downloaded by anyone. Using Watermarking will prevent others from downloading them. Though it can’t stop your images from being visible. The image here, has my blogs URL embossed in the middle.

View Images and Videos on a 3D Wall with Cooliris
“Think beyond the Browser” this is the mantra behind Cooliris. This tiny piece of software transforms your browser into an interactive, full-screen “cinematic” experience web media.
What is Cooliris?
Cooliris, formerly PicLens, turns your browser into a visually stunning, lightning fast way to search, discover, view and share online photos, videos and more. It’s innovative “3D Wall” lets you effortlessly zoom your way around thousands of items on a single ever expansive 3D wall.
Why do you need Cooliris?
This question can be better answered only with an example. Now, let’s say you want to search for Images of Beautiful scenery in Google Images. You will do a Google Image Search with the key words ‘Beautiful Scenery’ and Google displays hundreds or thousands of web pages. One cannot say only the top rated ones are shown in the first few pages and the lesser rated ones in the rest of the pages. At least, I will not agree in the case of Image Search.
If I have to do the same thing with Cooliris. I follow these steps.
- Install Cooliris plugin available for any of the browsers Mozilla, IE, Safari and Flock. Check this page for more details on browser compatibility. Mozilla Firefox Cooliris add-on link.
- Launch Cooliris in Firefox (as I installed it on Firefox).
- The search box is available at the top right corner of the Cooliris application. I select Google from the list and then search for the same key words “Beautiful Scenery”.
- Here is the main difference. All the images are shown in single never ending 3D Wall as against page by page in the browser.
- Now, I can select any image that I need and can get the Permalink of the image just by a single click.
