Browse SAFELY - Use the FREE McAfee SiteAdvisor

I often have several questions while I’m browsing through the Internet. Here are some of them that I can think of.

  1. Is the website I’m accessing safe to visit?
  2. Are the search results from any Search Engine like Google, Yahoo, Live, Ask,etc. safe to visit.
  3. Is it safe to download the content offered on websites?
  4. Is the site you are visiting free from Spyware & Viruses?
  5. What if you are a victim of a Phishing attack?

McAfee SiteAdvisor is the solution for all these questions. McAfee SiteAdvisor technology is a free download that tests Web sites for spy ware, spam, viruses and phishing so you can click with confidence. Here are the features of the SiteAdvisor.

1. Safety ratings from McAfee SiteAdvisor appear next to search results. It currently works with Google, Yahoo!, Live Search, AOL or ASK.

2. It includes McAfee SECURETM certified e-commerce ratings along with comprehensive test results for spy ware, viruses, spam and exploits on the search results.

3. As you browse, a small button on your browser toolbar changes color based on SiteAdvisor’s safety results.

4. Menu options on SiteAdvisor’s toolbar let you customize SiteAdvisor or see a site’s detailed test results.

Are you a Web Master? Make sure your site or blog is not listed as insecure when someone searches through Search Engines. Secure Search
McAfee SiteAdvisor technology with Secure Search allows users to block and filter malicious Web sites from search results, provides a Secure Search Box for simplified security and integrates McAfee SECURETM trust marks throughout the consumer Web experience. The upgrade is free and is available immediately for new and existing users.

Secure Search Box
Wherever you are on the Web, with Secure Search, you can search more securely without first having to navigate to a search engine page. The search box can be toggled on and off via the settings menu.

Risky Site Filtering
The Secure Search Box also offers you the ability to filter and block red-rated risky sites from your search results. That grayed out link means it’s not clickable unless you change your settings.
This feature goes beyond the safety guidance offered by the standard settings and delivers active protection. It’s great for families with children, or for computers that are shared with less experienced, novice Web users.

Safer Shopping with verified McAfee SECURE sites

All the sites that pass the testing from McAfee SECURE service, will display the McAfee SECURETM trust mark on the Search results. This means, your personal information is safer with participating McAfee SECURE vendors! That’s because daily scanning for known threats can help prevent Web sites from falling prey to many forms of hacker crime. Only sites that pass the McAfee SECURE program of daily testing and maintain their overall Green rating from SiteAdvisor technology testing can display the trust mark.

I can appreciate how this would be useful, especially for people still making their way around an unfamiliar internet. I hate it when I visit a SERP result and end up on a site which tries to install something on my system. I know better than to let it, but I can see why it might fool some people.

This is something that I will definitely give a try. I submitted my site on the link you provided and came up clean. This is at least one less thing to worry about. Thanks for providing the info.

Arun, Thanks for this information. I will submit my site on the website.

The only problem with it is the current Firefox version has this huge button that has to be in the status bar. It’s very annoying.
