Windows 7 Beta postponed – Installation Instructions
Microsoft has delayed the public release of its Windows 7 beta download due to an overwhelming demand that its servers couldn’t handle. Yesterday, Read 2 Know published an article on the availability of Windows 7 Beta. As per the latest news from Microsoft, the availability of the download has been delayed.
“Due to very heavy traffic we’re seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to the Microsoft.com properties before we post the public beta. We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the beta, and I’ll be posting here again soon once the beta goes live,” the message posted on Windows 7 Blog explains.
However, the post has no mention on the time for when the Windows 7 Beta will be made available again.
A report on Computer World indicated that the Microsoft’s servers were being crushed by the demand for Windows 7, even before the files where initially posted.
Tips for Downloading & Installing Windows 7
It’s important to note that the download offered on the Microsoft site is not like other software, where you simply download and double click to install.
- Windows 7 Beta will be offered download-only, it will be provided to you as in ISO image (an .iso file) that you can download.
- It will be available in English, German, Japanese, Arabic and Hindi with each language available in 32-bit and 64-bit.
- After downloading the ISO image, you are required to burn it to a DVD to install it. So, make sure you have a DVD burner before spending the time downloading the ISO image.
- If you do not have Roxio or Nero, you can get ImgBurn, which is free. You can download it here.

Microsoft had planned to allow only the first 2.5 million users to download the operating system. Microsoft has not confirmed the date when it would be available.

Yeah I understand as Microsoft cannot turn to torrents to take some load off from their site but now Windows 7 RC isn’t available for download anymore apart from Torrents site, if you go there and get one. You can get a free key still for RC from Microsoft.
